Archery Open Field tournament

by Norfolk Island Escapes

The Archery Open Field tournament is a very relaxed and friendly championship that has been around for more than a decade. A lot of archers and non-archers alike actually visit Norfolk Island in July just to be a part of these championships.

The Archery Champs runs for fours days and mostly attracts entire families by catering to various ages, including ‘cub’ divisions, adult compound divisions, recurve divisions, long bow divisions, and a special chook chaser division special to Norfolk Island. Partners, participants, friends and family members are all encouraged to visit the island and join in the fun. So, even if you do not do archery yourself, you should still visit the island in July. After all, there are always other sports and activities that you can look into while you are there. Conversely, you can simply rest and relax, as well.

The championships kick off with a welcome fish fry function, which features the fresh fish that Norfolk Island is famous for following by four mornings of friendly, fun and relaxed archery. A brewery takeover and a presentation banquet are part of the program, as well.

Right from the get-go, it will be pretty obvious that the local club actually specializes in hospitality and friendliness. In fact, they plan a lot of social gatherings for the entire week, in which the Archery Champs take place, ensuring that there will always be a lot of things for you to enjoy while you are there, including tours and activities. All of these things are sure to make your island getaway well worth it, whether you do archery or not.

The entire program for the Archery Champs is actually designed around visitors from New Zealand and Australia who come to the island to compete. This means that the competitions only happen in the mornings, giving participants the chance to relax and enjoy the island as they see fit during the afternoons and during the evenings.

Generally speaking, Norfolk Island has a lot to offer in terms of natural beauty with its cliffs, beaches and coral reefs headlining the roster of things to look at there. A lot of parts of the island are also devoted to national parks and national reserves, making it one of the most picturesque islands to visit in the world. Norfolk Island also comes with a great history starting with the famous Mutiny on the Bounty, which contributes a lot to their current unique language and culture.

Either way, you can get a lot of help from Norfolk Select when it comes to your trip to Norfolk Island. We specialize in planning trips for people who want to visit Norfolk Island in July for the Archery Champs and even beyond. We highly advise people to take advantage of discounted packages for a groups of friends or whole families since they already include everything you could possibly need to enjoy your Norfolk Island holiday as a whole.
