Jazz in the Pines

by Norfolk Island Escapes

Lovers of jazz festivals definitely need to experience what jazz festivals are like at Norfolk Island. Well, the good news is that it is possible to enjoy the best of the best at Norfolk Island every year.

Every December, Norfolk Island’s Jazz in the Pines attracts great performers who appreciate kicking the season off in style. Since the island is located in the South Pacific, some of their concerts are held at the beach, while others are simply held at other al fresco locations. Either way, the atmosphere of the island is generally friendly and laidback anyway, so you can enjoy a private festival, wherein locals, tourists and performers alike all socialize and mingle while listening to groovy jazz music at the same time.

Jazz in the Pines keeps attracting more and more jazz fans from Australia and New Zealand by the year. Those who are looking for something different especially love the festival. Unlike other festivals out there, Norfolk Island music festivals tend to be much more personal since visitors won’t just be able to enjoy good music while they are there, but will also get the chance to mingle with the artists who perform at the festival itself. Plus, they will get to enjoy a great holiday at the South Pacific.

The visitors aren’t the only ones who fall in love with Norfolk Island, either. Through the years, the festival has also attracted various artists and thus convinced them to perform at the festival. In 2013, for example, Sussurro, Evelyn Duprai, Don Hopkins, Rick Robertson, Libby O’Donovan, George Washingmachine, Ingrid James and the Down South Jazz Quartet all performed at Jazz in the Pines.

Jazz in the Pines is indeed very lucky to have a lot of great people behind it every year, including volunteers and sponsors who continuously support the festival and work very hard behind the scenes to make the world-class event the success that it is as a whole.

Some of the Platinum Sponsors of Jazz in the Pines include the Norfolk Island Government Tourist Bureau, the South Pacific Resort Hotel, the Paradise Hotel and Resort, the Governor’s Lodge Resort Hotel, and the Bounty Center.

Today, Jazz in the Pines is considered to be a very popular event in the world of jazz and a lot of jazz enthusiasts are very pleased by it. In fact, jazz enthusiasts consider the festival to be a must-see event, not just because of the music, but also because of the friendliness of the people, the uniqueness of the event and the ability to experience the said event at a gorgeous sub-tropical island. The sounds are always of top quality at the festival, too.

The artist lineup does change every year, though, and is always subject to change before the actual festival begins. Either way, combining traditional and contemporary jazz with a South pacific holiday is something that should not be missed, so make sure you book your tickets as early as possible to ensure that you get the best deals out there.
